_{Recently, I ran across some people who think it's fine to copy people's written works. I understand it's hard to get new ideas and using ideas from media can be one thing. Which is fine.

It's when someone outright copies someone's written works. Be it a published book or someone's fanfic or story. It being copied and having someone place their characters in place of yours.

In short, don't plunder someone's idea when you write something. Same goes with drawing. It's fine to be inpsired by someone but don't copy it word for word and pass it as your own idea.

This happens with roleplays as well and it's seriously annoying.

I am a dedicated writer and I really can't stand lititure works being stolen.

Okay, obvious copying of another's work as your own is in very poor taste, and if you actually claim it to be your original work when it isn't or make money off of it then that is indeed copyright infringement and illegal. But all artists begin their craft by copying other artists—it's how you get better, it's how you develop your own unique individual style, so to attack others for doing precisely that, especially when they don't try and sell the pictures or claim ownership of them, is utterly ridiculous.
